Message From the President and CEO

[vc_column_text]2015 was quite a year of change for ADEA, and one filled with exciting progress. After 10 years at our old address, ADEA’s offices are now officially located within the headquarters of the Association of American Medical Colleges, and we are one floor above the Physician Assistant Education Association. We are living out the promise of Interprofessional Education in a very visible way, ensuring that we collectively drive the interdependence of tomorrow’s health care workforce to benefit patients.

That goal is part of all of our work. But ADEA’s core mission, to lead the dental education community to address contemporary issues influencing education, research and the delivery of oral health care, takes on many forms. In 2015 we restructured our staff to better align with the priorities of our membership, including a stronger emphasis on professional development offerings to Deans, faculty and program directors. We recommitted to the ADEA Commission on Change and Innovation (ADEA CCI); we reinvigorated the ADEAGies Foundation and expanded its focus; and we strengthened our relationships with our companion organizations in oral health as we know none of us can make meaningful progress alone.

We are proud that the dental professions continue to offer such promising careers and that interest in applying to predoctoral, advanced and allied programs remains high. Ultimately, how we educate our students and who they become as practitioners is the real test of our success. Judging from the students I see and the work they do when they graduate, I think we are passing with flying colors.

There is much more to say about this past year, and too much for this one letter. I invite you to scroll through this report to learn more about ADEA, our members, and our collective work in dental education to lead, teach and learn, research and serve.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
